Happy 2018! It’s been quiet an interesting first month of the year for myself and TLSP.
From the “Caught in a Web” class to prepping for the Lightwright Masterclass, to further promoting our upcoming “Let There Be Light…& A/V!” roundtable class, the Education Center has brought in students, faculty and professionals alike to learn new techniques & network in the pre-production world.
We have had more One-on-One Consultations & Trainings in the last month or so than the entire year of 2017 combined. We’ve taught general lighting concepts to high school drama students, audio mixing tips & tricks to church AV professionals and the schedule keeps filling up!
The Education Center classroom now has upgraded lighting for better visibility during presentations and a new whiteboard to allow instructors to communicate information beyond the PowerPoint and lecture. And to get the shameless plug out of the way, seats are filling fast for John McKernon’s Lightwright Masterclass on February 17th, so signup quick as to not miss the opportunity to learn the software from the man who designed it!
The Studio, which houses our Engineering Desk, Programming Desk & Design Visualization System has been upgraded in software and hardware. We’ve updated all applications to the latest and greatest to keep up with industry demand, as well as relocated our 42” wide format plotter & color laser-jet printer to The Studio to allow for immediate access to prints and plots
As 2018 progresses, we hope to further our reach with classes, and bring new and exciting subjects and instructors to the Education Center. Furthermore, we strive to provided state-of-the-art equipment and services for designers, engineers, programmers and clients alike.
This year also brings back our USITT membership and attendance! I’ll be there on the floor everyday making connections and giving away goodies to use in the Studio & Education Center. Look out for me there March 14-17!
Look out next month for an in depth look at the world of stage & production management in educational theatre, professional theatre and corporate events featuring interviews from students and professionals in our industry!
Please feel free to Contact Dustin D. Miller and send over your questions for next month’s entry, comments on this month’s entry and any and all follows ups on my reviews, tutorials and other content.
